The 'Get Traits' tool allows you to select a range of species held within BIOTIC and to download all the available traits information, as a Comma Separated Value ( CSV ) File, for inclusion within Excel or other analytical software.
To view a the BIOTIC glossary which includes descriptions of all the BIOTIC traits, click here.
Select species
Upload your species list from an Excel sheet (version 97-2003 ( Only *.xls files are supported), with species names all in column 'A') .
The software will then compare your species to the current list held by BIOTIC and give you the option to download a traits matrix in several formats*. You are also able to view BIOTIC species pages for each of the species matched from your list.
If you choose to spellcheck your species list, your species will be compared against the European Register of Marine Species ( ERMS ), which will suggest close matches if no identical match(es) is/are found. Please note that the spellchecking option will increase the time taken to return your results.
